Tímea Babos wins French Open doubles title

Tímea Babos and French partner Kristina Mladenovic successfully defended their Roland Garros doubles title, the first women’s double team to do so since 2009.

Hungarian tennis star Tímea Babos and French partner Kristina Mladenovic have successfully defended their Roland Garros doubles title.

Babos and Mladenovic competed for the title in Paris this past Sunday, a delayed tournament which was rescheduled due to the coronavirus. As no. 2 seeds they captured their second straight French Open Title win with a 6-4, 7-5 victory over no. 14 seeds Alexa Guarachi and Desirae Krawczyk.

This is the pair’s fourth Grand Slam title. They won Roland Garros (2019, 2020) and the Australian Open (2018, 2020).

The duo were set to compete in the US Open in September. They were disqualified after a first round victory due to Mladenovic having come into contact with someone infected with the coronavirus.
