Hungary’s official national day celebrations kicked off at 2 pm today with Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s annual address.
Held in Kossuth tér outside the Parliament Building, the prime minister was joined by President János Áder and Speaker of the House László Kövér.
The national holiday on March 15th commemorates the Hungarian Revolution of 1848, which developed into a war for independence from Habsburg rule.
The prime minister said we must fight for Hungarian freedom and independence against the international, anti-democratic empire of George Soros.
PM Orbán said that even though we have fought many great battles over the last 30 years, "our biggest battle is just about to begin".
There were also many other events held around Hungary to celebrate the holiday, which drew thousands of attendees up and down the country.
