Hungary’s official national day celebrations kicked off at 2 pm today with Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s annual address
“They want to take our country away. Not with the stroke of a pen like they did a hundred years ago in Trianon,” said Prime Minister Orbán in his March 15th address before a crowd estimated in the hundreds of thousands to commemorate the 170th anniversary of Hungary’s 1848 Revolution and War of Independence, “but that we voluntarily hand it over to others in the decades to come.”
The gathering on Kossuth tér on March 15th celebrates Hungarian freedom, independence and sovereignty. The official celebration will begin at 2 p.m. and Prime Minister Viktor Orbán will deliver the annual address.

The Hungarian national flag was hoisted in front of Parliament this morning to mark state celebrations of the anniversary of the Revolution and War of Independence of 1848-49.
The national holiday will be marked with a series of events around the nation, and commemorations will begin with the hoisting of the national flag in front of Parliament with military honors at 9 o'clock tomorrow morning.
