Prime Minister Viktor Orbán met with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in Rome to address crucial issues, including European competitiveness, migration, and bilateral cooperation.
The prime minister said Europe’s biggest problem now is its decline in competitiveness, adding that Hungary’s EU rotating presidency would put a European competitiveness pact centre stage.

The prime minister also had talks with Poland’s former prime minister, Mateusz Morawiecki.
The fifth Budapest Demographic Summit will be one of the largest conferences in Hungary, to be held between September 14 and 16 in Budapest.
The floods have claimed numerous lives and deprived tens of thousands of people of their homes, PM Orbán noted, wishing those harmed by the floods a speedy recovery.
President Novák and Meloni agreed that illegal migration should be curbed.
The prime minister expressed hope that he will get an opportunity to personally consult with Meloni about joint tasks in the near future.

Talks focused on European political issues and the commitment to unifying Europe’s right-wing parties, and on taking an active role in debates on the community’s future.
