The sides were in agreement that Uzbek-Hungarian cooperation had been “developing spectacularly” in recent years.
Hungary’s exports to Uzbekistan have doubled over the past ten years and are estimated to be worth close to 100 million dollars this year.
Hungary and Uzbekistan had agreed earlier this year to set up a 50 million euro joint strategic equity fund to support Hungarian market players operating in Uzbekistan.
Several Hungarian companies play a significant role in Uzbekistan’s banking sector, communication and trade.
The foreign minister said all member states of the Organization of Turkic States now have diplomatic representation in Hungary.
Hungary’s OTP Bank is now present in Uzbekistan, opening opportunities to further economic cooperation.
