“I welcome the Hungarian parliament’s vote to ratify Sweden’s membership in NATO,” Jens Stoltenberg said.

The Hungarian government considers strengthening NATO an important aim but expects mutual respect from old and prospective member states.
PM Orbán and Ulf Kristersson will hold a joint press conference after the talks on Friday.
“If joining [NATO] is important for the Swedes, they will come here, just like they went to Turkey,” Máté Kocsis said.
In a letter, Ulf Kristersson said he agreed with PM Orbán that “more intensive dialogue” between their two countries would be beneficial.
The date of ratification of Sweden’s NATO membership depends on how quickly and effectively confidence can be built between Hungary and Sweden.
Hungary also finds it “unacceptable that Brussels is asking for more money”.
The Turkish president's recent submission of a bill approving Sweden's NATO membership bid to parliament does not change the status of Hungary's ratification of the country's accession.
The foreign minister called it “unacceptable and offensive” that while Sweden kept urging the ratification of the country’s NATO membership, it constantly repeated that Hungary was not a democracy.
The president said that Hungary was very much dependent on Turkey in terms of gas supplies from Azerbaijan.
The pro-war fervor fueled by the Left, attempting to capture the minds and souls of leaders and citizens amid the Russian invasion of Ukraine, proves the necessity of Hungary remaining the voice of reason and an advocate of peace in these troubling times.
