Government approves "National Consultation" survey on EU sanctions against Russia

“I ask everyone to give their opinion, because only through joint action can we put an end to the rise in energy prices,” PM Orbán said.

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said the government has approved the Fidesz parliamentary group’s proposal to launch a “National Consultation” public survey on European Union sanctions against Russia.

“I ask everyone to give their opinion, because only through joint action can we put an end to the rise in energy prices,” PM Orbán said on Facebook after a cabinet meeting. The prime minister said Wednesday’s meeting had focused mainly on the issue of energy prices. “Brussels forced the energy sanctions onto member states and energy prices have been sky-high ever since,” PM Orbán said. “When this happened, Brussels promised that the sanctions would end the war and would hurt the aggressor more than European Union member states.” But instead, European citizens today are paying a “sanctions surcharge” on energy, he said.
